നാടിനെ നടുക്കിയ ഫയർഫോഴ്സ്‌ 

ഇത് എൻ്റെ ഒരു സൃഷ്‌ടി ഒന്നും അല്ല, ഒരു  അനുഭവം ആണ് .

ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് ഒരു പൂച്ചക്കുട്ടി ഉണ്ട് . അവൾ വലിയ വലിയ വികൃതി ആണ്.എല്ലാടത്തും കേറും മരത്തിലും വീടിനു മുകളിലും ഒക്കെ കേറും.ചുരുക്കി പറഞ്ഞാൽ ഒരു കോലേക്കെറി  ആണ്.

 ഒരു ദിവസം അവളെ കാണാതെ ആയി.അന്ന് പകൽ മുഴുവനും ഞങ്ങൾ അന്വേഷിച്ചു നടന്നു .പക്ഷെ കണ്ടില്ല .ആ രാത്രി ഞങ്ങൾ പൂച്ചയുടെ കരച്ചിൽ കേട്ട്  അന്വേഷിച്ചു  ചെന്നപ്പോൾ അവൾ അവിടെ അടുത്തുള്ള ഒരു കിണറ്റിൽ  വീണു കിടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

 ഞങ്ങൾ പല വഴികളും നോക്കിയിട്ടും അവളെ കിണറ്റിൽ നിന്നും എടുക്കാൻ  പറ്റിയില്ല. കോട്ടയും,കൂടും മീനും ഒകെ  ഇട്ടു കൊടുത്തിട്ടും അവൾ അതിൽ കേറിയില്ല.രാത്രി മുഴുവനും അവൾ അവിടെ കിടന്നു കരഞ്ഞു .

ആ കിണറ്റിൽ ആളുകൾക്ക് ആർക്കും ഇറങ്ങാൻ പറ്റില്ല. അത്  ഇടിഞ്ഞു കിടക്കുന്ന കിണറാണ്. 

                       അച്ഛൻ കുറെ നോക്കിയിട്ടും അവളെ എടുക്കാൻ പറ്റിയില്ല.അച്ഛൻ ഉടനെ ഫയർ ഫോഴ്‌സിനെ വിളിച്ചു. അച്ഛൻ അവരോടു പൂച്ച എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞത് അവർ പോത്തു  എന്ന് കേട്ടു.ഒരു പൂച്ചയെ എടുക്കാൻ ഫയർ ഫോഴ്‌സിനെ വിളിക്കുമെന്ന് അവരും കരുതി ഇല്ല .പെട്ടന്ന് തന്നെ ഫയർ ഫോസിലെ കുറച്ചു  ഓഫീസർമാരുമായി  വണ്ടി വന്നു.പോത്തിനെ  കിണറ്റിൽ നിന്നും  എടുക്കാനുള്ള  എല്ലാ  സചീകരണങ്ങളോടും കൂടി  ആണ് അവർ വന്നത്.അവര്‌  പോത്തു എവിടെ എന്ന് ചോതിച്ചപ്പോളാണ്  അച്ഛൻ പറഞ്ഞത്  പോത്തല്ല പൂച്ചയാണ്  എന്ന്.

"പൂച്ചയോ......പൂച്ചയാണെങ്കിൽ  ഞങ്ങൾ  എടുക്കില്ല" ,തിരിച്ചു പോകുകയാണെന്ന് അവർ  പറഞ്ഞു.അവസാനം  അച്ഛൻ അവരോടു  കേണു പറഞ്ഞു നോക്കി.  നിങ്ങൾക്കു  വട്ടുണ്ടോ  എന്ന് വരെ  അവർ  ചോദിച്ചു.അവര് ഇറങ്ങില്ല എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു എന്നാലും സാരമില്ല സൗകര്യം ഒരുക്കി  തന്നാൽ ഞാൻ ഇറങ്ങിക്കോളാം എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു ,അവസാനം  അവർ നെറ്റ്   ഇട്ടുകൊടുത്തു.അങ്ങനെ അച്ഛായി   തന്നെ  ഇറങ്ങി  അവളെ എടുത്തു.ഫയർഫോഴ്‌സ്  വരുന്നത്  കണ്ടു  അവിടത്തെ നാട്ടുകാര് .അങ്ങനെ അവൾ ഇപ്പോൾ ഞങ്ങളുടെ നാട്ടിൽ  പ്രശസ്തയായി.
                                                            അങ്ങനെ  അവൾക്കു ഒരു പുതിയ പേരും കിട്ടി   "ഫയർഫോഴ്‌സ് ".അവൾ എവിടുന്നെങ്കിലും  വരുന്നത്  കാണുമ്പോൾ  തന്നെ എല്ലാരും പറയും ദേ  ഫയർഫോഴ്‌സ്‌  വരുന്നു എന്ന്.ഫയർഫോഴ്‌സ്‌കാർക്കും  ഇതാദ്യമായിരിക്കും  ഇങ്ങനെ ഒരനുഭവം.ഒരു  പൂചയെ  രക്ഷിക്കാൻ   ഫയർഫോഴ്‌സിനെ  വിളിച്ച ആദ്യത്തെ   ആളായിരിക്കും  എൻ്റെ  അച്ഛൻ.

NYX- Night Personified

Between these broken walls of frozen time,

Breathes the branches of this narrow Lime,

Against its subtle strength I sit,

Under this night, well starlit.

From behind the old crenelates I see,

The high hanging arms of the tree,

Reaching high to caress the Night,

Like they've been apart for long without sight.

Staring up at these flawless skies,

Oh! What a wonderful sight to my eyes,

NYX with her masterpiece,

Makes my mind light and at ease.

Her unblemished beauty shines bright,

While her heart sings with delight,

Her music heard in the rustle of the willow leaves,

The notes seep into the soul of one who believes.

The crescent moon ornate her face,

Held by constellations framing infinite space,

Silver beams bounce off the ocean waves,

And lights the path of the lost, it saves.

On one of those late darks without an embrace,

She covers me with her Heavenly grace,

Fixing cracks in my spirit with love so rare,

And lifting my hair with playful breezy air.

Before vermilion hues streak azure skies,

And the earthly stars begin to rise,

These precious tranquil moments I imbibe,

Along with flooding feelings I can't describe.

As the dark fades to light,

I take leave of the night,

And leave behind pasts, a few,

ആഗസ്റ്റ് 24 ......ഒരു  നല്ല കാര്യം ചെയ്തതിന്റെ  കൃതാർതഥയോടെ  ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ   ഓർമ്മത്താളുകളിൽ  എനിക്കെന്നെന്നും സൂക്ഷിക്കാൻ ഒരു നല്ല ദിവസം .

                       

 ഞാൻ പലതവണ  ലുലു മാളിൽ പോയിട്ടുള്ള ഒരാളാണ്.... വീട്ടുകാരുടെയും    കൂട്ടുകാരുടെയും ഒക്കെ കൂടെ  ഞാൻ  അവിടെ പോയിട്ടുണ്ട് .അന്ന്,  ഞാൻ അറുപതോളം വരുന്ന എന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരുടെകൂടെ വീണ്ടും അവിടെ പോകാൻ ഇടയായി.പക്ഷേ  അതിനൊരു പ്രത്യേകത ഉണ്ടായെന്നു മാത്രം .എന്താണെന്നോ ??? അന്ന്  ഞങ്ങളുടെ  കൈപിടിച്ചു "ലുലു"എന്ന ആ മാസ്മരിക ലോകത്തേക്ക് ആകാംഷ നിറഞ്ഞ കണ്ണുകളുമായി അമ്പതോളം വരുന്ന "തണൽ മരത്തിലെ കിളികളും" ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു .

                         

 ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ കയ്‌പേറിയ യാഥാർഥ്യങ്ങളുടെ രുചി അനുഭവിച്ചറിഞ്ഞവരാണവർ .നമ്മൾ അറിയാത്ത ,അറിഞ്ഞിരുന്നാൽ പോലും അനുഭവിക്കാത്ത ജീവിത സംഘർഷങ്ങളിലൂടെ കടന്നു  പോകേണ്ടിവന്നവർ. ഇക്കൂട്ടരിൽ സ്വന്തം മക്കളാൽ അനാഥരാക്കപ്പെട്ടവരുണ്ട് . തെരുവോരങ്ങളിൽ ഭിക്ഷയാചിക്കുന്നവരുണ്ട് .തലചായ്ക്കാൻ ഒരു ഇടമിലാതെ  കടത്തിണ്ണകളിൽ അന്തിയുറങ്ങുന്നവരുണ്ട് .അന്ന്  അവരുടെ കണ്ണുകളിൽ ഞാൻ കണ്ട ആ തിളക്കവും ആനന്ദവും എങ്ങനെ വർണ്ണിക്കണംഎന്ന്  എനിക്കറിയില്ല ..........

              

                യാത്രയുടെ തുടക്കം മുതൽ ഒടുക്കം വരെ എന്നെ മുറുകെ പിടിച്ച ആ കരം!.PVRന്റെ  ഇരുളടഞ്ഞ ആ നാല് ചുവരുകൾക്കുള്ളിലും സന്തോഷത്താൽ പ്രകാശിതമായിരുന്ന ആ കണ്ണുകൾ!പാരഗണിൽ നിന്നിറങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ വയറിനേക്കാളുപരി മനസ്സ് നിറഞ്ഞ സംതൃപ്തി പ്രതിഫലിപ്പിച്ച അവരുടെ ആ മുഖങ്ങൾ !ആട്ടവും പാട്ടും കളിചിരികളുമൊക്കെ നിറഞ്ഞ ആ നിമിഷങ്ങൾ!....... അതെ  ,ജീവിതത്തിൽ ഇനി എന്നും ഓർത്തിരിക്കാൻ ഒരുപിടി നല്ല നിമിഷങ്ങൾ ആ ദിനം എനിക്ക് സമ്മാനിച്ചു.

                                                 ഇത്തരമൊരവസരം എനിക്ക് തന്ന സാബുവച്ചന് ഒത്തിരി ഒത്തിരി നന്ദി ...

Life gives us two options everyday for things to happen or make them happen. Those who wait for things to happen miss out a great deal because they hardly or never happen. The best option is to decide what you want and pursue it.

                      How long and complicated our endeavor might be, the first step we take really matters. If we prolong to take the first step, it indicates our resistance to change and fear of failure. But remember that life rewards only risk takers.

       Life offers plenty of opportunities. The important thing in life is to shrug off the difficulties and mental dilemmas and keep moving towards the goal.         

"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all" asserts Hellen Keller. Successful people do not depend on their luck. They take up challenges and responsibilities to make most of their life. A ship is safe in the harbour but that is not why it is built. Remember you are meant for greater things and your success is certain.

As i sit beside the door

gazing into the lonely dark woods,

filled with moonlight, rustling of trees,

crickets stridulating and the 

sound of water flowing like there was no end.

The calmness which cannot be described

but only experienced.

People say i'm mad

to live in those woods alone,

as if i was waiting for someone

to walk out of those dark oblivion.

But no one understood the beauty of it

the simple state of being calm,

feelling nothing but your mind

wander the woods.

Even then i sit there every Friday night

staring into those lonely dark woods,

like it was the last time 

like it was the last time.....

A DELIGHTED BOOK REVIEW

"Around the world in 80 days" by Jules Verne

Surprisingly, I've never read this book before. I read almost everything else by Verne , but this was somehow missed... so I decided to fill in the hole in my education, without regards of it being a children's book.

The main character, Phileas Fogg undertakes a journey around the world with his servant, wagering to do it in 80 days. Along the way he is considered a robber, rescues a lady from sacrifice in India, sails through many stormy seas, fights Indians, crosses collapsing bridges, runs a ship with itself as a fuel and plays a lot of whist.

The story is simple and fun, and shines with Verne's recognizable style - scientific, almost mathematic, with the highest regards for the main characters and full of real-world knowledge.

Phileas Fogg is described brilliantly as a satire of an intelligent English gentlemen - I found the first pages where his life order is described hilarious - such over-emphasized pedantism !

It's funny how far from relevant this book is today. Put air-flight aside for the moment, and even then it's not even close. In Fogg's times there was a single ship a week from Japan to America, two days separated between trains from San Francisco to New York and a simple delay could ruin the whole journey. Indeed, transportation has vastly progressed in the past 100 years.

I highly recommend this book as a fun light reading.

ഇടുക്കി പുറമെ നിന്നുള്ളവർക്ക് ഒരു ആവേശമാണ് .എന്നാൽ എനിക്ക് ഇടുക്കി ഇന്നും ഒരു അത്ഭുതമാണ് .എന്താണ് ഇടുക്കിയെ മറ്റുള്ള പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും വത്യസ്‌തയാകുന്നത് ...........ഒരു  സുഹൃത് എന്നോട് ഒരിക്കൽ ചോദിച്ചു :"എന്താടാ ഉവ്വേ ഇടുക്കിക്ക് ഇത്ര  പ്രിത്യേകത??? " ........ ഉത്തരത്തിനു സമയമായില്ല .

                  മലകൾക്കു മുകളിൽ ഡേയ്‌വസ്പർശം  ഒളിപ്പിക്കുന്ന കോടമഞ്ഞും... വനങ്ങളുടെ  ദാഹമകറ്റി ഒഴുകുന്ന പെരിയാറും ... ഇടുക്കിയെ ഇടുക്കിയാകിയ ഡാമും ..ഇവയൊന്നുമല്ല ഇടുക്കി .... പിന്നെ എന്ത്???? ..... ഉത്തരത്തിനു സമയമായില്ല .........

                                   

                 മറ്റു ജില്ലകളെ പോലെ അധിക വർഷത്തെ ചരിത്രം ഒന്നും പറയാനില്ല  ഇടുക്കിക്ക് ,ഏറിവന്നാൽ 6 പതിറ്റാണ്ട് ...ഇന്നും യവ്വനയുക്തയാണ് ഇടുക്കി.

   കറുത്ത പൊന്നും,കാപ്പിയും,ഏലവും ,തേയിലയും. നീലകുറുഞ്ഞിയും ഒക്കെയാണ് ഇടുക്കിയുടെ മുഖ മുദ്രകൾ.എന്നാൽ പതിറ്റാണ്ടുകൾക്ക്  മുൻപ് മലകയറി വെട്ടിപ്പിടിച്ച ഓരോ കര്ഷകനുമാണ് ഇടുക്കിയെന്ന സ്വർണഖനിയെ ആദ്യം തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞത്.ഇന്ന് ഇടുക്കിയും മരിക്കുകയാണ് എല്ലാവരെയും പോലെ ...എന്നാൽ ഇന്നും ഇടുക്കിയെന്ന സ്വർണഖനിക്ക് തിളക്കം ഒട്ടും നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടിട്ടില്ല ..ഇപ്പോൾ എന്നെകൊണ്ട് ഈ ലേഖനം എഴുതാൻ പ്രേരിപ്പിച്ചത് "ഇടുക്കി ഗോൾഡ് "എന്ന ആഷിക് അബു ചിത്രമാണ്.

ജനനം മുതൽ നാം പല പല                                                                                                    പാഠങ്ങൾ പഠിച്ചിടുമ്പോൾ ആദ്യ 

പാഠമാം  കുടുംബത്തിൽ നിന്ന് 

നാം ബന്ധങ്ങൾ തൻ അർത്ഥം മനസിലാക്കിടുന്നു 

പക്ഷെ ബന്ധങ്ങൾ ചിലപ്പോൾ ബന്ധനകളായി 

മാറീടുന്ന നിമിഷങ്ങൾ ,മനസിന്‌ നോവുകൾ നൽകിടുന്നു .

 രണ്ടാം പാഠമാം വിദ്യാലയത്തിൽ നിന്ന്  നാം 

സൗഹൃതത്തിൻ വില മനസിലാക്കിടുന്നു 

വിദ്യതൻ മടിത്തട്ടിലുടെ നടന്നിടുമ്പോൾ 

നമ്മോടൊത്തു ദുഃഖങ്ങളും സന്തോഷങ്ങളും പങ്കിടാൻ 

സുഹൃത്തിൻ കരങ്ങൾ നമ്മെ ശക്തരാക്കുന്നു 

പക്ഷെ സൗഹൃദത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന ചില ചില 

വിടവുകൾ പോലും നമ്മെ തകർത്തിടുന്നു .

നിമിഷങ്ങൾ .....നമ്മെ ജീവിതം എന്തെന്ന് പഠിപ്പിക്കുന്നു

അവൻ എന്നിൽ നിന്നും പറിച്ചെടുത്തു 

സ്‌നേഹപ്രകടനങ്ങൾ അവനിഷ്ട്ടമായിരുന്നു 

പൂക്കളാൽ നിറയപെടുന്നത് അവനിഷ്ടമായിരുന്നു 

ചുടു ചുംബനങ്ങൾ അവനിഷ്ടമായിരുന്നു 

കലർപ്പില്ലാത്ത ചിരി അവനിഷ്ടമായിരുന്നു 

ഇഷ്ട്ടങ്ങൾക്കപ്പുറം അവനു ലഭിച്ചത് 

വറ്റി വരളാത്ത കണ്ണീർക്കണങ്ങൾ

സ്നേഹത്തിൻ ആഴം കണ്ടവൻ,

ആ വൈകിയ വേളയിൽ 

അവനിലൂടെ ഞാൻ പലതും അറിഞ്ഞു,

അവനിലൂടെ ഞാൻ പലതും ഗ്രഹിച്ചു,

അവനിലൂടെ ഞാൻ വളരാൻ തുടങ്ങി,

അവൻ തൻ  മടിത്തട്ടിൽ പുതിയൊരു ഞാൻ ഉണ്ടായി.

വളർത്താൻ അവനു കഴിയും,

തളർത്താൻ അവനു കഴിയും,

കഴിയാത്തതായി ഒന്നുമില്ലെന്ന ചിന്ത 

അവനാൽ മെനയപ്പെടും 

നന്മകളുടെ വ്യാപ്തി അവനിലൂടെ ഞാൻ അറിഞ്ഞു 

സ്നേഹത്തിന്റെ തീക്ഷ്ണത അവൻ കാട്ടിത്തന്നു 

വീണുടഞ്ഞ വിഗ്രഹത്തെ  വീണ്ടും അവൻ 

മനസ്സിൽ പുതുമയോടെ വാർത്തെടുത്തു.

ഈറൻ അണിഞ്ഞ മിഴികളാൽ  ഞാൻ ചൊല്ലി-

വരല്ലേ നീ ഒരിക്കലും 

പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നു ഞാൻ എപ്പോഴും 

മൗനമായ നിന്നെ..........   

 

 ഈ മൗനം എൻ മൗനമാകില്ല

              WHAT YOU CAN DO TODAY

"procrastination" said William Shakespeare ,"is the thief of time ". In our scriptures also ,we are exhorted to do what we are supposed to do immediately without wasting anytime.Postponing an action is like defeating its very purpose or delaying or weakening the result that it is supposed to yield.Remember the old saying,"for want of a nail,an empire was lost". It is said that a rider carrying a message during war time was careless. He knew that a nail had fallen off from his horse's hoof. His immediate task should have been to stop his journey midway and get the nail fixed up properly. But ,instead, he preferred to continue his journey because he thought that a missing nail from the horse's hoof would not make much difference to the speed of the horse... But soon the horse fell down;it had became lame. It refused to getup .. and the message was not delivered in time to the General.A whole empire was lost because the rider would not take immediate action... The delay or postponement may lead to disastrous result...
If all of us keep this in mind ,there would be no delays or holdups,no bureaucratic red tapism and no hassles in our own or our fellow beings lives. Unfortunately most of the people agree with oscar wilde ."do not put of till tomorrow what you can do the day after".

                         There is a well known social psychological principle at play here , one captured well by the song lyric from the song  Me and Bobby McGee " freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose". Research on risk taking shows that people are less likely to take chances when they've reached a desired goal. If people have already lost something new a whirl.
             Thomas Edison had qouted that " I have not failed. I just found 10000 ways that won't work". The upshot is that success breeds conservatism and a tendency to hold on to what you've got.Though failure isn't something we necessarily strives for, there are times when it leads us to loftier heights than we might otherwise achieve. EVERY FAILURE IS A STEPPING STONE TO SUCCESS.
