BIRTHDAY GIFT FROM DAD

(this poem was written by my dad and was gifted to me on my 18th birthday)


I still remember how happy and proud I felt
When I held you in my arms for the first time
The wonder , the tenderness, the love melted my heart
When I gathered you close to my chest


Since then you have given me reasons plenty
To be proud, to be contended and happy
If your love made me smile at times
At others ,you made me laugh at your antics


With you the sun seemed to shine brighter
You made the harsh winter days warmer
Suddenly life's burden seemed lighter
And yes, you do make the future seem better


On your eighteenth birthday
My darling, I just want to say
That I loved you from the moment I saw you
And will continue to do so till the day I bid adieu.
