The bride
As I was watching the winsomeness of
the rain through the casement, a thought came to mind.
I imagined the rain as a lady who is
going to be married today. She is in the attire of a bride.
Sky is the pudava
she wears. Trees are the ornaments. Today she is going to start a new life with
her husband.
She is singing, dancing and rollicking with great joy. In the
attire of a bride she looks like the most beautiful women in the world.
Now she
is thinking about the life with her new husband. In her dream her husband is
soft in character. He takes care of her and their children. He looks after the
family very well. She is ready to give up anything for her husband. She wants
to be with him wherever he goes, to take care of her husband. When he is sad, she would like to hear her husband
and console him. When he gets angry, she would like to make sweet dishes for
him. When he is in a good mood, she would like to go with him for a drive. When
he is tired, she would like to massage the oil on his head to get a good sleep.
When her husband is feeling sick, she will become a nurse to cure him. She is
ready to cook any dish her husband likes to have. When he says to leave the job
and sit at home, she is ready to leave her high salary job too.
She will
consider the family of her husband as her own family. She will look after their
children. When she puts the red kumkum on her forehead each
time she prays to god for her husband’s longlife.
She gets into mandapam and
the groom puts a thali on her neck.
Suddenly the rain stopped. I went to my
room.
